I can imagine this content being really convincing if presented in more of an "ignite" style video.Katelynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15353626664653018302noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8441758389977123332.post-21686957564010658492016-03-07T08:35:15.571-07:002016-03-07T08:35:15.571-07:00Very good comment. I think as Adrian talks more in terms of amateurs complementing, rather than replacing experts, we can envision using / becoming both.Gideon Burtonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08282494104976426309noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8441758389977123332.post-49504052889775897022016-03-07T08:33:39.686-07:002016-03-07T08:33:39.686-07:00Although I missed the many visuals that helped to ...Although I missed the many visuals that helped to pace your prior version, this one brings in an important historical component -- about which I would like to hear more detail. You need to add to your piece some contemporary sources that discuss the rise of the amateur. See some of the early books mentioned in this crowdsourcing presentation.Gideon Burtonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08282494104976426309noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8441758389977123332.post-5542227163735420652016-03-07T06:40:43.582-07:002016-03-07T06:40:43.582-07:00Great post Adrian! Should we try to make a significant but small impact in many aspects of our lives, or should we take the time to become experts now and then make substantial contributions in a single area? This question obviously ties into the historical concept of specialization that began in the last 19th century (http://s-usih.org/2008/07/idea-of-specialization-john-higham-on.html). In essence the question is: Do we have enough people that are competent in enough areas to outweigh their collective impact that they could have if they all became experts in a single field?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06716509317748806517noreply@blogger.com
