Who Are You in the Digital Age?

Our online identity deserves to be protected and made secure, and yet it is also a presence that we want to be seen. Where is the balance between protection and presence? We want to be involved in society while still maintaining our individuality. How can we be involved in the global identity without being swallowed by it? We have an opportunity to share opinions with the world, but we don’t want differing opinions to dissolve into pointless arguments. Where is the line separating crowdsourcing and fiendish feuds?

Global Identity

A link to my video can be found here.

The world is moving in a unique direction, and social media doesn't seem to know how to handle it. I argue why it's vital to encourage disagreement online for the sake of progress.

Multiple Facets of Identity: 2nd Iteration

Our group has been considering the possibility of formatting our final project for the medium of a website. This website would be formatted simply, similarly to a blog, with all of our videos and posts available. Because we want to show how our ideas all connect, we plan to film multiple videos. One video will be an introductory video, in which we all briefly introduce our ideas. The remaining videos will show two of us at a time in a scripted discussion of how our topics pertain to each other. While we didn't have time over Easter weekend to film, the following script will be used for our introductory video. Please feel free to comment with feedback!

An Idea for our Group Project

I've been really thinking about how to present our group projects, and how to present out eight sub-categories. I had an idea, but wasn't able to find the video, so I've taken a bit longer to get around to this post. But, after finding the video(s), I'm now posting it here:

(The video is rather long, I don't expect you to watch the entire thing)

Redefining how we define ourselves in the Digital Age: A Video Proposal

I have come to the conclusion over the past few months, through a process of discovery, that we can't and shouldn't move backwards. We are now in the Digital Age, and we're too hesitant to move forward with it because we see so many bad things about it. We're focusing in on the knots in our society and difficult things that take time to get past.

The way past this, I've come to realize, is forging a new IDENTITY. It's redefining how we define ourselves. We, as millennials, have that responsibility and that honor.

Kindea Labs Videos

I spent my time this weekend looking at the Kindea Labs videos, and took notes on the pros and cons of the videos I watched. I think these could be a valuable source for learning and a good example of videos we could use for our class project.

All Kindea Labs videos are from universities. They also had the videos posted on Vimeo, instead of popular sites such as YouTube.

Globalization: The Backbone of the Future

My name is Mitchell Cottrell. Globalization is important to me because I've lived outside of the United States of America for two-thirds of my life. I've been very involved with international cultures and understand the value they hold in influencing our future. The world is in desperate need of global ideas and practices in order to progress and sustain itself. Let me explain why...
