The Other Lost Generation

We are constantly wandering through a digital wilderness that looks like this one. It is enticing, but very easy to get lost in. It is simple for one to wander aimlessly for hours through a beautiful garden such as this. It represents various forms of social media such as:
  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Instagram
  • Snapchat
  • Blogging
This is my trip to Butchart Gardens in British Columbia. It is a beautiful garden, but easy to get lost in.

The Detriment of Society

Hey guys, upon reading our central theme as a class I have decided to reform my topic so that it fits better. Since this is highly a digital world I have decided to include something about technology, but I need your help in formulating my topic all the way. In today's society there is a high correlation between smoking and education. The less educated you are the more likely you are to smoke. There is also a correlation between alcoholism and education. The higher educated you are the more likely you are the be an alcoholic. There is so much information available to us today, yet we are much more unhealthy. Two thirds of the American nation is overweight or obese, but we are getting smarter, aren't we? We boast of technological prowess and ways to educate our students and children, but I think we are failing. This is evident in the typical American lifestyle. 1 in 2 men will get cancer at some point in life and 1 in 3 women will too. Where is the disconnect between technology and living better, quality lives? Are these advances in technology and exploring the digital wilderness actually detrimental to our society? Are we really more uneducated or is technology just making us apathetic? Are we becoming like the lost generation of World War I? Let me know what you guys think.
